Good news! Foundation for Inner Peace, the publisher of A Course in Miracles, has released a new audio app that is beautifully designed, professional looking and intuitive to use.
It requires a monthly or annual subscription but offers a 14 day free trial. I subscribed to the annual plan without hesitation. Not only do we have the entire ACIM course in our mobile phone, we now have access to curated prayers and meditations. More importantly, I know that the subscription fees will go to support the Foundation for Inner Peace in their important work to provide and promote the course to the world.
After signing with Apple ID, Google ID or email, you will be asked a series of questions to help customise the app’s experience for you.
The homepage is welcoming with options to continue listening to audio where you have left off previously. It also shows the daily workbook lesson of the year. For example, it is displaying Lesson 350 when I took the screenshot and you can tap on it to play back the workbook lesson.
Scrolling down, there is a simple navigation to access all of the course including the text, workbook, manual and the supplements. You can also tap on the Inspiration section to play a surprise section from the course. Personally, I feel you can ask Holy Spirit about something and then tap on this feature and perhaps the Holy Spirit could have a message for you via the “randomly selected” course audio.
To play the audio of any lesson, you can navigate to the chapter and section easily.
When playing back, you can activate the Read Along Mode and the text will be displayed along with the audio which is narrated by the same Jim Stewart with a deep and soothing voice from the course’s Audible audiobook.
The cool distinction from the Audible audiobook is that you can add background music while listening to the audio. However, I wish the app offers the same convenient sleep timer like the Audible app. I often use this feature to listen to the course’s Audible audiobook to fall asleep on sleepless nights. I have feedback to the foundation via the app’s feedback feature. Let’s hope they will work on this feature in a future update.
Last but not least, the app offers curated prayers and meditations. I see a lot of potential here as the foundation can continue to update the app with new curated prayers and mediations to build up a wonderful library.
This is a great initiative by Foundation for Inner Peace. Now, we can also gain access to a very useful app while supporting the foundation in its work.
