12 Health Tips ACIM Students Should Try
In Gary Renard's third book Love Has Forgotten No One: The Answer to Life, he continued his series of conversations with two ascended masters Arten and Pursah who appeared to him in person and advised him (and all his readers) on practising A Course in Miracles. Unlike his previous two books which focus more on the spiritual aspects of A Course in Miracles, the third book also touches on the twin tower attacks and practical tips on improving health.
As a result, some doubters criticise the book for moving away from a spiritual focus into more earthly discussions. Then again, these detractors fail to realize what Arten and Pursah have been emphasizing all along. The reason they are sharing the truth behind 9/11 attacks is that it serves as an example of illusion and the ultimate purpose of any external projection is so that we can eventually learn to forgive, just as we have to forgive whatever that comes up in front of us.
Similarly, the health tips they shared are preferences that we can choose to follow while we still believe we are bodies and appear to be here. Sleeping and eating are also forms of magic. Yet, we hardly question why we sleep and eat. And the Course tells us that all illusions are the same -- there is no hierarchy in reality (T.26.VII.6). Thus their sharing of the health tips are still very much relevant. When we feel better, we are more likely to remember to forgive.
Since Love Has Forgotten No One was published in 2013, I have been using quite a number of the health tips myself and validated personally that many of the health tips do work. Many of these suggestions are also really common sense and already widely endorsed by health experts.
Nevertheless, Arten and Pursah did have a disclaimer. They explain that the ego can be very complicated at the level of the unconscious and not every tip they share will work as effectively for everyone. The ego mind will not take too kindly to these changes and it definitely wants us to keep thinking we are bodies and separated from God. Hence, do remember this caveat when following some of their health tips. For example, honey seems to work better for my wife than for me in helping those sleepless nights.
Here are the 12 tips from Arten and Pursah. I will also be adding some of my own personal comments and experiences from following each tip.
#1. Walk
Start with 30 minutes a day and work your way up to an hour which is around 3 miles (4.8 km) per day. We do not have to do it every day -- 5 days a week is enough. The trio (aka Gary, Arten and Pursah) seems to suggest that walking can help maintain our weight or lose excess weight but almost everyone can agree that there are many other health benefits from regular exercise.
#2. Breathe deeply
Arten and Pursah said this is vital. Breathe and exhale deeply whenever you could remember. We will feel more energetic as a result too. Whenever I feel uncomfortable, I will remind myself to breathe deeply and it certainly has helped.
#3. Stretch
Do stretching whenever we could to stay loose. The trio did not comment much about this although they did say Yoga will be beneficial.
#4. Drink a lot of water
People who drink more water are less likely to get cancer compared to people who don't. Our body is mostly water and hence water is essential. Having sufficient water also helps prevent headaches. I am personally dealing with a frequent urination issue so I could not do so without having to go to toilet very often. However, my own experiences tell me that getting hydrated really helps when you are having a headache. In other words, we could be getting headaches due to dehydration among other reasons.
#5. Fast one day per month
Many health books and articles agree about the benefits from the occasional fasting to help cleanse the body. Arten mentions that statistics has shown significantly fewer heart attacks in people who fast one day a month. There are also other health benefits. Okay, I have to admit that I do not have the discipline to do this regularly.
#6. Eat honey
We do not have to eat it every day, but honey is one of the super food. Besides many health benefits, it is good for sleeping problems. Take two tablespoonfuls of honey before you go to bed, or as much as you can take up to that amount. If you have heartburn, take honey 30 mins before meals. Take again before bed. You have to keep this up to see results. Never give honey to children below three years old since their bodies are not developed enough for it yet.
#7. Drink noni juice
Another super food, I am a big advocate of noni juice myself. I have been drinking it for about 2 years almost continuously except for one period of time. I drink it to improve my immunity and to improve my osteoarthritis. All I can say is that I do not fall sick or have any pain in my knees when I am on it. During that period when I stopped taking, I fell sick again and the knee pain returns. So yes, I have resumed drinking noni juice daily. Ideally, you have to take it 30 mins before food on an empty stomach. Make sure you get the pure, unadulterated kind. Gary reveals that he was a kahuna in Hawaii in a past life and used the noni plant for healing extensively.
#8. Drink juices
Any juice will help. One or two glasses of fruit juice every day will make a difference. Eat vegetables.
#9. Go out in the sun for 20 minutes a day when it's sunny, and take vitamin D3
Those two things combined will help prevent a lot of problems, including depression. When you are feeling good, you are more likely to remember to apply the right thoughts. I was initially taking 1000 IU of vitamin D3 for the past two years but I have recently realized that the Vitamin D Council recommends a daily intake of 5000 IU for most adults. I have been sleeping and feeling better since I switch to a dosage of 5000 IU.
#10. Laugh
Watch comedies, funny movies and go to a comedy club. Read jokes. Laughter is better than any other form of medicine. On a side note, those who are more spiritually advanced tend to laugh more. They do not take the world too seriously and recognize it for what it is -- an illusion. You should read Never Forget to Laugh, the biography of Bill Thetford (co-scribe of A Course in Miracles).
#11. If you want to stay young, look into age extension
Arten recommends the product MaxOne. MaxOne features the proprietary RiboCeine™ technology which combines the nutrients D-ribose and L-cysteine to more effectively support glutathione production within your body. Glutathione is a key defense against harmful effects like free radicals, chemical toxins, and heavy metals which can all have negative consequences for our health. This product is only available through multi-level marketing (MLM) and caused a bit of controversy in the course community due to the bad rap MLM gets. I guess this is something that we have to eventually forgive if we feel any resistance. I have been taking MaxOne pills for around the same length of time as drinking noni juice. Similarly, I have not fallen sick when I am on it. Almost everyone around me, including my wife who does not take MaxOne, was down with the flu during a recent bad flu season but I was not affected. I am also hoping it will reverse my osteoarthritis somehow.
#12. Oxygenate your body
Cancer cells cannot live in the presence of oxygen. If we could properly oxygenate all of the cells in our bodies, then most diseases would be prevented, or cured if we have one. The best but tricky way is through ingestion of 35 percent food-grade hydrogen peroxide via proper dilution. This is not the same as the 3 percent stuff that dentists and doctors use, which cannot be ingested without potential harm. The best information about this is in a book called The One Minute Cure by Madison Cavanaugh. Make sure you read the book before trying this though. It can be dangerous to exceed the recommended amount.
On top of the 12 tips above, Arten and Pursah also mentioned about using vitamin C. Specifically, they stated that intravenous doses of vitamin C are being used successfully in some parts of the world to cure most kinds of cancer. I take 1000mg of vitamin C myself every day. They also encouraged Gary to look into anti-inflammatory supplements. In my own research, I find that fish oils (which contain Omega 3) are well-known for help with inflammation.
In the same chapter, Arten and Pursah also share that they use the above health tips in their last lifetime together in which they got enlightened.
So that's it. And yes, while these preferences may make our bodies feel better, we must remember that it is still an illusion. We still have to practise forgiveness with whatever that comes up. Yet, doing the above things can be really helpful and we are more likely to remember to forgive when we feel good than bad.
